UNISSULA Supports Local Farmers and Food Producers Through Community Engagement and Knowledge Exchange

Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (UNISSULA) is committed to supporting Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2: Zero Hunger by strengthening the capacity of local communities, farmers, food producers, and small-scale food enterprises through education, research, community engagement, and knowledge transfer.

As part of its implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, UNISSULA regularly engages with communities through community service programmes (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PkM), Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN), applied research, training, mentoring, and technology transfer.

These activities provide opportunities for local communities and food-related stakeholders to interact with lecturers and students, exchange knowledge, and obtain practical solutions relevant to food production, food processing, nutrition, food safety, entrepreneurship, and sustainable community development.

UNISSULA’s approach emphasizes the role of higher education as a partner for communities. Rather than limiting food security activities to academic research, the university seeks to translate academic knowledge and innovation into practical benefits for local communities.
