UNISSULA Initiatives to Improve Access to Basic Services for All

Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (UNISSULA) demonstrates its commitment to reducing poverty and improving community welfare by expanding access to essential services for students, university members, and the wider community. As an Islamic university committed to the development of khaira ummah, UNISSULA implements various programmes that address fundamental needs, including healthcare, education, food access, housing support, legal assistance, and community empowerment.

These initiatives are implemented through university-owned facilities, academic faculties, community service programmes, and strategic institutional partnerships. Through these programmes, UNISSULA seeks to reduce social and economic barriers that prevent individuals from accessing essential services and opportunities for improving their quality of life.

UNISSULA’s commitment to improving access to basic services contributes directly to Sustainable Development Goal 1: No Poverty, particularly by ensuring that vulnerable groups, economically disadvantaged students, and surrounding communities can access services that support their well-being and social mobility.

Contribution to SDG 1: No Poverty

Through entrepreneurship funding opportunities, business incubation, proposal preparation, mentoring, training, business legalisation, product promotion, and innovation commercialisation, UNISSULA contributes to the creation of a more financially and socially sustainable entrepreneurship ecosystem.

These programmes help students and emerging entrepreneurs overcome important barriers commonly faced during the early stages of business development, including limited capital, inadequate business knowledge, weak market access, and limited professional networks.

By facilitating access to entrepreneurship funding and combining it with structured mentoring, UNISSULA encourages beneficiaries to build enterprises capable of generating sustainable income and employment.

This initiative contributes directly to SDG 1: No Poverty by promoting economic self-reliance and creating pathways for sustainable income generation. It also supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through entrepreneurship development, innovation, job creation, and collaboration with government and industry.
